Millie Blooms is an artist from Monmouth. She follows up her previous single with a retro millennial-soaked Hip-Hop banger called “DNA,” a 3-minute whirlwind of energetic rap.”DNA,” Millie Blooms’ single, is a perfect illustration of something fascinating springing up from a true recording artist. A raw look at what she’s aiming for with her songwriting. Blooms released “DNA” on the 15th of July, 2022.
As a song, “DNA” is all about the capitalist intent behind pop-culture beauty standards and its effect on young girls and women, including Blooms herself. Set over a throwback soundscape that can only be described as TLC meets the unapologetic self-acceptance of Lizzo; It’s a response to today’s culture that to be perceived as attractive to others, you have to conform to the unrealistic standards of beauty. The overwhelming pressure that creates and destroys mental health in so many women today. In many cases, it’s even led many of us to question, “Who is my authentic self?”.
“DNA” is worth a listen, and I believe Blooms on the file will establish a name for herself with her distinct sound. She has developed a song that is both appealing and intriguing, and it is guaranteed to capture listeners by combining elements of R&B and hip-hop. Millie Blooms’ delivery also flows flawlessly and provides an added dimension of interest to “DNA,” while her vocal style is particularly successful in expressing the song’s theme.
“This track is by no means expressing judgment, it’s merely an observation of the spaces we exist in and the versions of ourselves that we feel we need to present. I think there’s a lot of fun to be had in playing with aesthetic looks, through hair styling, make-up, fashion, photo filters, and even reconstructive surgery and I celebrate the women that choose to indulge in beauty standard culture because it makes them feel confident. However, I am equally aware of the damage these often-unrealistic standards can cause; resulting in low self-esteem, eating disorders, and other mental health conditions.” Millie tells us before adding,
“I wrote this song to remind women that we are enough and that we get to choose where we place our value. For some women that are found in how they present their physical appearance, for others, it’s found in obtaining knowledge and skill sets and for many, it’s placed in what they believe in and the legacies they create… all of these values have their place, we all have a space in this world… DNA is as an anthem for all women!”.
“DNA” will be remembered for its attitude and pleasant feelings, as well as its gentle and delicate vocal performance. The production is excellent, and the reasonable lyrics make it come alive.

I really wish you could see yourself
You could love yourself
Stop being someone else
Only then will you free yourself
Believe in yourself
Truly be yourself
