FNF Chop, a Virginia native, has recently released his new track “Yea Yea Yea,” and it’s a spooker. It was released less than two months after his last single, “Repeat” with Fivio Foreign. Chop, on the other hand, has yet to release a full-length project. He also released a couple of EPs over his career. His most recent release was the No Way Out EP, which was released in April. Hopefully, his string of singles in 2022 is a precursor to something bigger.

“Yea Yea Yea” begins with an ominous bassline that will take you off guard on first listen. Surprisingly, it isn’t as synthetic as many 808s and another recent bass presets. It’s warm and deep, and Chop gets a lot out of a little. He begins his stanza with only that bassline in the background. Unsurprisingly, he uses chainsaw noises and distant ad-libs to create a scary start. Listeners were also likely reminded of another 2022 tune, “Make Believe,” when they heard “Yea Yea Yea.”

When the sub bass kicks in and the snares begin to ring, FNF Chop’s “Yea Yea Yea” enters banger territory. It’s a very subtle one, at that. While Chop’s lines are confrontational and confident, the song doesn’t build to a wild conclusion. It’s a tight piece that makes the most of its prominent instrumental elements.

However, at the end of the tune, the drums, while still weak, become considerably more prominent. Instead of launching into a roaring drop, “Yea Yea Yea” slows down just before the apex, leaving listeners wanting more. As a result, FNF Chop’s quick and fluid flows complement the beat well.

The Virginia native describes his personal things, his street conduct, and what annoys him about others around him in great detail. Chop’s more reserved voice adds to the frightening sense given the track’s gloomy tone. His narrations are also far more detailed than on other of his trap cuts, such as “Titanic.”
